How to Add a New Product in SambaPOS

Step-by-Step Tutorial for Nigerian Businesses


STEP 1: Open the Product List

  1. From the Navigation screen, click Manage.

  2. Go to Products > Product List.

  3. You will see a list of all products that are already added to your system.


STEP 2: Click “Add Product”

  1. On the Product List screen, click the Add Product button.

  2. A new product setup form will appear.


STEP 3: Fill in the Product Details

1. Product Name

Enter the name of the product you want to create.
Example: “Coke 50cl”, “Fried Rice”, “Table Water”, etc.


2. Group Code

Select the product group where this item should belong.

  • Group Codes help with reports and organising similar items.

  • If the group does not exist, simply type a new name to create it.

Example groups: Beer, Champagne, Soft Drinks, Local Dish, Snacks, Noodle and Pasta, Nigerian Starters.


3. Barcode (Optional)

Enter the product’s barcode if it will be scanned during sales.

  • Products with barcodes can be sold even if they are not added to the menu yet.

  • Used for both normal and weighed products.


4. Tag (Optional)

Apply a tag if you want to separate or categorise items for printing or reporting.
Example:

  • “Kitchen” tag for food

  • “Bar” tag for drinks

Tags can also be used for routing orders to specific printers.


5. Portion Prices

Every product must have at least one portion and price.

To add a portion:

  1. Click Add Portion

  2. Type the portion name (e.g., Normal)

  3. Enter the price

  4. Save

You can add multiple portions such as:

  • Normal

  • Large

  • Mini

  • Bottle / Can
    Each with its own price.


STEP 4: Save the Product

After entering all required details, click Save to complete the setup.

The product has been added to your Product List and is now ready to be included on the menu for sales activities.
